Here we have our new orca canoe on its first trial outing on orca's top secret testing pond. More info to come, but lets just say that carbon fiber is on the cards..

28th May canoe build all done.

Well done to all, 6 nice canoes built, and all done by noon on last day.... happy paddling, and don't forget your roof bars.....

Fine first day of our 28th may canoe building workshop, all canoes are looking good and all was done by 3pm...

10th may canoe build workshop all done.

Thanks to all who came, 6 canoes where built! noteworthy was Ken who had his course bought for him by his wife as a present. How every she only told him he had to go pick up a packaged and he had no idea his package was a canoe he had to build!! he got over his shock when his family arrived on mass to help.  happy paddling everyone.

CALENDAR DATES

It was bought to our attention that our calendar atwww.orcadventures.co.uk was not showing some dates, but please don't panic, we have fixed it now. All paddle making dates and canoe building workshops are now showing. If for some reason you can see them please let us know. Thanks.

We have swept out the barn and its ready for next canoe building workshop, It is full again, so if you are bring cake, biscuits ect to share don't expect them to last long!!! see you all soon.

Martins Canoe

Hello Steve and Dan,

Just a quick email to say what a great time I had at the workshop.  What an
excellent way to spend four days.
Attached are some pics of our maiden voyage yesterday evening at Mylor,
Falmouth.  As you can see, the crew had a great time.
The boat was very well-mannered throughout and easily accommodated all four
of us.
We're looking forward to some more adventures soon.

Only 12 days left till our first canoe building workshop for 2013. we have chased all the chickens out and our workshop is ready and waiting!! Places are still filling so don't delay! looking forward to seeing you soon.

5 year old Gunwales!

Thought we show a little project we have done this winter.  About 5 years ago we build a prospecter in oz, since then it have been sat outside and has now work done to it. So its is time for some tlc.

varnishing is very gratifying, brings out the colour in the wood.

As you can see the Gunwales were a real mess, so they have been sanded down and varnished  have also stained the fixings, seats thwarts ect, looks quite good now, and remember this is 5 years old now and had been left out side and had now work done on it thus far. It has been painted on the outside as you can see, this was done as to protect is form the harsh uv sun they have in oz. 

So if you have built or thinking of building a canoe, try keeping it inside or at least out of the elements, and look after then Gunwales. 

Good to go for another 5 years!
